Description

I lived on the Upper West Side of Manhattan for fifteen years. This piece is like the mental map I had in my head of my neighborhood. My apartment is in the largest center building, and all the places I went to are in the periphery. I created this scene inside of a 3D sphere by creating hundreds of copies of a box with windows and placing them on the vertices of the sphere which was then made invisible. I added lights inside to create shadows and shapes, and captured the scene with a spherical camera which created a flattened complete image of the sphere's inside surface.
